Grading
As we settle into our routines, your second grader will have graded assignments, quizzes, or tests in most subjects.
These graded papers will come home on Tuesdays. When preparation for an assessment is needed outside of class, the information will be provided to you.
I will be using common grade level assessments and rubrics.
As we continue with the implementation of the Common Core State
Standards assessing student knowledge may look slightly different to you
as a parent.
In the past, weekly written assessments were given in comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and math, usually on Fridays.
Second grade students will still have assessments, but their assessments will match the standard(s) being assessed.
This could be an individual oral or written assessment.
Your child’s classroom participation, partner work, and group work will also count as a portion of their grades.
Both language arts and math grades are weighted. All written assessments and rubrics (These are in the process of being developed by all second grade teachers together.) will be available to you after grades are entered into the parent portal,
which is usually by the following Tuesday.
